A Glorious Sunny Summer Fete Styled Wedding And Reception At The Hampton Court Mitre Hotel
From the moment I met Jenny and John, I just had this feeling it was very much meant to be. As individuals, they are super lovely people, as a couple, they are warm, welcoming and very wonderful.
Jenny is the first bride to ever bring home made cake to an initial consultation. Whilst I scoffed on her deliciously and carefully crafted Butterfly cakes, they scoffed on my shop bought and no doubt rather bland carrot cake. It was a very ‘sweet’ affair. Turns out too that Jenny and I went to the same school, only we won’t go into how many years separated our attendance. Clearly, they are exceptionally good eggs!
The wedding itself took place at St Mary’s Hampton, where John’s father is also the vicar. It was a fantastic ceremony with friends and family, and the all the regular worshipers from the church. John very much wanted his father to just be ‘dad’ for the day, with clergy friends conducting the service and marriage ceremony. I love that John’s best man, Josh, played guitar, and the music was a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary gospel.
Following the service everyone made their way into the church yard for a village fete styled reception, complete with homemade cakes (made by parishioners), Pimms, and traditional games. The Gypsy Kings rang out across the PA, and the sun made an appearance despite having threatened to hide itself for the day.
I must also just add that Jenny’s mum was responsible for the flowers, including Jenny’s bouquet. The decorated arch before the altar was particularly beautiful, and I loved the sweet floral arrangements and vintage books collected by Jenny and John which gave their reception an eclectic, vintage, and very personal feel. The images of the clock at Waterloo station reflected the location of the couple’s first date. Then later the wedding breakfast was held at The Hampton Court Mitre Hotel, and in the evening the newlyweds, accompanied by their guests, danced the night away to a ceilidh.
A really lovely wedding, two very gorgeous people, oh and can I just say that there are many many very persistent grasshoppers in Richmond Park with a penchant for hanging out on wedding dresses…..
Jenny and John, it’s been awesome….. J x
