Rainy Oxfordshire Farm Wedding

A Rainy But Beautiful Oxfordshire Farm Wedding

photo of a bride and groom in a field at sunset.

Nothing Could Spoil This Rainy Day

Back in September I photographed Carly and Henry’s glorious rainy Oxfordshire country wedding. You might think heavy rain would dampen the mood, but you’d be wrong. This was a wonderful day full of love and laughter and an absolute joy to photograph.

I loved working with Carly and Henry so much. We had a brilliant time meeting up for their engagement shoot, and I knew this was going to be a really fun day to shoot. Carly is a really talented artist and Henry runs his own tennis academy, and the couple are really sporty and enthusiastic people. In fact their family and friends were just a ball to photograph and this has to be one of my favourite weddings of 2016.

Some Of The Details

The setting for the day was the family farm in a village just outside Oxford. Carly was able to get ready in her old room which I always think is really special. A marquee was erected in the orchard and I can still remember the aroma of ripened fruit in the evening air! The wedding took place at the local village church and Carly’s brother in law was also the vicar who conducted the marriage ceremony, so that was super special too.

I adored Carly’s Temperley lace gown which she teamed with satin Rainbow Club shoes, and I REALLY loved the tennis shoes she later changed into for dancing the night away.

The speeches were wonderful, funny and emotional. Formal dining was dispensed with and bowl food was plentiful. Gallons of Bollinger were provided by Henry’s parents, and the live music really made the party swing.

The Photography

I’m pretty proud of this collection of photographs, I think they sum up everything I try to achieve when shooting weddings. Reportage, fine art, details shots, they are all combined to create a colourful mosaic of images to paint a picture of the day. The settings, the atmosphere, the individual personalities, the little fleeting moments that might otherwise be forgotten.

Carly and Henry are just deciding which images to include in their wedding album and say they are have difficulties deciding from so many goodies! I know the feeling, it was pretty hard to narrow down my choice of images for this blog post. I’ve included far too many but oh well, why not! Enjoy!
