Every time I shoot a wedding I fall just a little bit in love with my couples. I can’t help it, it’s hard not to when they are so full of love and happiness and being their very best selves. Ollie and Sarah are no exception, I’ve fallen big time for these two. Yesterday was just the most amazingly beautiful, relaxed wedding with a real festival ‘Summer Of Love’ vibe to it. This bride and groom were an absolute treat to spend time with; funny, passionate, a teeny bit filthy, and absolutely hilarious!
I started cover at All Hallows church in Tillington near Petworth. It’s such a wonderful and typically English village and the church looked resplendent decked out in blousy pink Peonies, Roses, Stocks, Love In The Mist and Cornflowers. Ollie looked equally resplendent in Liberty and we had plenty of time before the bride’s arrival for some relaxed portraits with his groomsmen and best ‘men’; Duncan, Russell, Nick and James. Sarah’s bridesmaids (Josie, Alice, India and Jacqui) looked super pretty in dusky pink and all the bridal party’s flowers had that relaxed ‘gathered from the meadow’ feel.
Sarah was accompanied by her mum Dorothy, who gave her away and who also delivered such a beautiful speech later on. With just 60 guests the ceremony was warm and intimate and full of emotion. The couple have been attending the church for the last couple of years, and local villagers came out to wish them well. All very joyous!
After the ceremony and some group photos with the Surrey Hills as a backdrop, Ollie and Sarah were whisked away in a vintage Morris Minor as we all moved on to Duncton Mill Fisheries . The Mill is the perfect location for couples wanting a super laidback wedding, and the couple’s choice of a single tipi with bench tables, rustic tablecloths and meadow flowers was appropriate and in keeping with the overall feel of the day. Delicious food was provided by Clifford Brown Catering & Events, and a help yourselves drinks tent provided plentiful bubbles and more. There was one slight mishap which I’m sure they won’t mind me sharing. The wedding cake sustained some minor injuries when the vehicle it was travelling to the reception in was forced to make an emergency stop. Fortunately no jam was spilt and a floral first aider was on hand to patch her up. Sarah’s reaction? “I don’t care!’ Love it!!
Speaking of Sarah, she looked like a glorious Shakespearean heroine (think Titania) in Halfpenny London white lace. Her floral crown of white Peony and flowing hair were just perfect for the setting and reflected Sarah’s carefree approach to their big day. Overall it was clear to all that their wedding was everything they wanted it to be, thoughtful, fun and one big party. They were just such a joy to spend time with. I’ve never known a couple be so chatty, we covered all subjects, none of which I can repeat… 😉
Ollie and Sarah, seriously, you guys really are the loveliest. I know you said you wanted to stalk me but really you are welcome anytime! J x
