Farnham Castle Wedding Preview

A September wedding at St Peter’s Church Hascombe followed by a reception at Farnham Castle

Yesterday, Liz and Ben married at St Peter’s Church Hascombe, and celebrated afterwards at Farnham Castle. It was a lovely day to photograph, relaxed and intimate, and the weather gave us plenty of excitement. Heavy rain in the morning, and sun at just the right times! We got very lucky!

St Peter’s church really is astoundingly beautiful. The old church was built around 1220, but in modern times it has been given the most beautiful gilt detail and intricate paintings. I love the vaulted ceiling, so dramatic! Also, the paintings on the walls depicting the ‘one hundred and fifty and three’ fishes of the St Peter the fisherman’s miracle, caught in a net dragged in by the 6 disciples. It’s truly stunning.

Liz arrived at church with her brother in a vintage Fiat 500, and emerged looking radiant and not the least bit creased! The rain held off as she made her way along the path to the church and to Ben and hymns and vows and I do’s. Then after the ceremony confetti was thrown and hugs and kisses were shared, before the couple sped away in the Fiat, now kitted out with paper chains and balloons.

Guests enjoyed some bubbly and canapes and later we went for a little walk to capture some beautiful bride and groom portraits both in the castle grounds, and just beyond.

Liz and Ben are real nature lovers, and I thought their woodland themed wedding cake, given pride of place in the Stone Hall, was lovely! The Great Hall looked so pretty with flowers by the Lavender Hill Flower Company (as were Liz’s bouquet and their church flowers). I especially loved the floral organza bows on the back of the seats.

Here is a preview of highlights from the day. Liz and Ben, what a fabulous day! Enjoy your preview. J x
