A DIY Hurley Village Hall Wedding

A Sweet Intimate DIY Hurley Village Hall Wedding

This weekend I had the pleasure of documenting Hazel and Ben’s wedding at Hurley Village Hall in Berkshire.

I love a big grand wedding, but equally, I love a small and intimate wedding with just close friends and family, where the emphasis is on everything being relaxed and low key. Hazel and Ben didn’t want a big fuss, just some meaningful words before those closest to them, led by a friend acting as celebrant. It’s so important to plan the sort of wedding that’s right for you. It’s sounds obvious, but so often there is pressure to have everything out there available, but it doesn’t have to be that way. These two were very sure of the day they wanted, and very touchingly, Hazel told me it had been everything she had hoped for and more.

This was very much a DIY wedding, and Hazel and Ben pretty much did everything themselves starting with an Autumn theme, adding colours of red and gold, Autumn leaves as table decor, and a pretty cake which Hazel and her friend had decorated themselves.

September can be a little tricky for weather, but I’ve always found the sun most generous when it comes to my couples, and for these two especially so. There is nothing better than some bright, vibrant Autumn colour, and we had it in spades. I really enjoyed our walk through the village and down to the river side. The various backdrops were so pretty and really tied in with Hazel’s gold ribbon and bouquet, as well as Ben’s cravat and button hole.

Hazel is a very keen photographer (I loved our first meeting, Hazel really took her time to review my portfolio), and I know their photography was a big investment, so thank you guys for inviting me along. It really was such a lovely day to document, and I hope you enjoy your wedding preview. Jx
