A Gorgeous Windswept Great Fosters Wedding – Emma & Andy

Emma and Andy’s windswept and completely lovely Great Fosters Summer wedding

A Windswept summer wedding.

Yesterday I returned for a second time to a rather windswept but sunny Great Fosters. I met up with Emma and Andy at the hotel a few months ago for their engagement shoot, and since then have been really looking forward to shooting their special day.

When we met they admitted to feeling a little nervous about the photography side of things, but the pre wedding shoot really helped them to be able to relax in front of the camera, and we had such a good time on the day. In fact, we had a bloody brilliant day. So much fun!

Emma and Andy went for my Platinum package which includes a second photographer, so I was joined by my assistant Debbie for the day. She went to shoot some pre ceremony groom’s party shots, whilst I covered bridal prep in the beautiful Tapestry room.

Great Fosters has recently undergone renovations and improvements, having been acquired by the Alexander Group, and it’s looking rather plush and fantastic. Both Debbie and I are Great Fosters brides (yes really, both of us 🙂 ), so the place is really special and we care about helping to make our couple’s day there special too. I can confirm that everything has been sympathetically enhanced and is looking really great. Of course the standard of service is also just as good as ever. As usual, we had the utterly dependable Jose coordinating the day for the hotel. Always a pleasure to work with.

Emma and her bridesmaid’s hair and makeup was expertly styled by Bex Standing Smith.  Emma chose a gorgeous lace Essence Of Australia dress from Isabella Grace that featured Swarovski crystals and diamanté beading, and teamed it with cute Charlotte Mills ivory pumps and fine gold glitter hearts. Her gorgeous flowers featured apricot David Austin roses, white stocks and wax. So pretty. Emma chose Liberty In Love pearl drop earrings, and a super pretty hair comb by Olivier Laudas.

The wedding ceremony took place in the light and airy elegant setting of The Orangery. Andy’s face when he turned and saw his bride was an absolute picture. He just couldn’t keep his eyes off her.

After the ceremony the couple and their guests made their way out into the Painted Hall for canapés, fizz, and Pimm’s. They then spilled out into the beautiful grounds beyond. We managed to get the final group shot done just as the heavens  opened which was great. However it was too wet under foot for any outdoor bride and groom portraits. This could have posed a problem, but it was a super blustery and windswept day and the rain clouds soon blew fast away. By the time the couple and their guests had finished the wedding breakfast, it was the  ‘golden hour’ with perfect light, so out we went into the beautiful gardens, and the results are beautiful. I especially love the whole windswept and ever so slightly wanton veil shots! 🙂

Later the couple cut their stylish wedding cake. A three tiered navy and marble creation by Shelly’s Cakes. Then danced the night away with a disco and lights provided by Firebird Events, as well as a hog roast!

These two really are the sweetest, lovely couple, and it’s not difficult to see where they get it from because their families are too. Debbie and I could not have been made to feel more welcome. In fact we were totally spoilt (a three course meal, a mention by Andy in his speech, a naughty drink at the end of the night, and a big hug from both the couple as we left). 🙂

Emma and Andy, it was such a super day all round! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. <3

Here are your wedding previews. Have a fantastic honeymoon in Italy, and I can’t wait to deliver the rest of your wedding photos in a few weeks time. J x
