Good Day Sunshine ~ Part I

Several months ago Stacey Marie Chalk and I chatted about the possibility of working together on a creative project. After our initial meeting we didn’t have a name for our project, we didn’t even have a venue, but we did have loads of ideas swirling around and some definite goals in mind. We wanted to creative a collaborative bridal shoot that would bring together a group of talented people and enable each one to showcase the very best of their work. We wanted brides to be to see inspiring images with great ideas( the yellow bow has been an instant hit and is now being introduced as a new product), but also ensure everything was within the realms of possibility for real brides. For me I wanted something vibrant and exciting, and maybe just a little out of the ordinary, it’s a great chance to play around with some ideas and have fun. Our colour scheme? Well it had to be lemon and lime, no pink or blush here, and came I up with the name ‘Good day Sunshine’, taken from the title of the Beatles song. It seemed to really capture the essence of the concept.

Everything about his project seem to come together beautifully. We wrote out a list of our preferred suppliers and approached each one to see if they would contribute. We got so lucky and essembled a dream team. I remember it was my job to contact a dress supplier, it was key to the success of our project. Emma Meek of Miss Bush Bridal came through big time, we really could not have asked for more with her talented team working beyond the call of duty to help us realise our ideas. Steph Turpin Of Fairynuff Flowers was my first choice when it came to adding gorgeous flowers to our shoot and she said yes straight away. Make up artist Gemma Sutton also signed up as soon as I asked her, as did my friend Helen Chatfield Rigby with her fabulous vintage Beetle ‘Polly Pootles’. Janet Mohapi Banks, goddess of exquisite cake design created an original design to complement our theme.  Meanwhile Stacey Marie found the perfect location, Pendell House, a new wedding venue keen to take part. She also used her wedding planning skills to source our perfect wedding stationery supplier, Wendy Li of August Moon who created a design especially for us,  Creative Candi of Surrey to supply a sweetie table as well as various other suppliers who would provide beautiful table wear.

Lastly, but certainly not least, were our two models, Kitty and Gemma. As a photographer I really felt getting the right look would be an essential part of the shoot. After a casting call I was a wash with responses but none of the models seemed right, in short, it’s not enough to be beautiful, I want to see a bit of light behind the eyes, personality!  Then one day I came across Kitty and bingo, I’d found our first model. Character, warmth, beauty yes, but a natural grace and vintage charm( Kitty lives and breaths vintage clothing). Then Emma Meek suggested we use Gemma who had modelled her dresses before. Gemma was just perfect for providing a contrasting look, versatility and fun, and showing each dress off to it’s max.

We are so happy to have had our shoot featured on top UK wedding blogs Love My Dress and Rock My Wedding, and we know that many real brides have already taken inspiration and have indeed been in touch with our suppliers. This is now my chance to share my images with those that follow my work starting with Part I today and Part II tomorrow. If you read my waffle, well done. Now the photographs……….

So many thanks to everyone who collaborated in this shoot, a real team effort, you made my job very easy indeed.
