A Hertford Civil Wedding Ceremony And Relaxed Country Pub Reception
Yesterday Helen and Ben were finally able to get married after having to postpone their original wedding day. Ben’s mum told me they had planned to have a marquee reception, and on their original date it rained really heavily. By way of consolation, not so yesterday. It turned out to be the most beautiful hot and sunny July day, and from my perspective, such a lovely relaxed wedding to shoot.
I started cover at Helen’s mum’s house where final preparations were underway, before heading on to Hertford register office and a very touching ceremony. I have to say as well, the room was fab to shoot in, double aspect with huge windows, and friendly flexible registrars. It really does make so much difference to the photographs!
After the ceremony Helen mentioned another part of the council offices with striking architectural arches that might br good for some photos. With full sun and heat, they provided the perfect cool and shady location for portraits (the light was lush!). Ben and Helen planned their day so that we had ample time for relaxed photos, and I think this really shows with the look and feel of the shots we captured at the council offices.
Afterwards we stopped off on the way to the pub reception in a scenic countryside location, and ‘Jodi’ the VW camper van provided the ultimate ‘prop’ for some cool, funky, loved up photos.
After arriving at the pub, there was confetti and canapés, live music, Pimm’s and fizz, and I enjoyed taking candid shots of guests relaxing and enjoying themselves before the wedding breakfast, speeches and more live music.
Ben and Helen originally booked their family friend (and my friend) Sarah Legge to shoot their wedding, but sadly due to a clash with the new date, Sarah asked me if I was able to shoot the wedding instead. So no pressure then! Hopefully I’ve done then and her proud!
Helen and Ben, congratulations. It really was an absolute pleasure. Here’s your preview. J x
