A Brilliant Rural Dorking Marquee Wedding

A Beautiful August Dorking Marquee Wedding With Temperley Gown, Vintage Land Rover, and Shepherd’s Hut Wedding Night Retreat!

Yesterday I got to shoot yet another brilliant Summer wedding, this time for Annie and Joe in a beautiful rural setting near Dorking. It really was very special, and so full of laughter, huge emotions, and so much love and support from their friends and considerably large families.

Annie and Joe booked me last September, but it wasn’t until I visited them a few weeks ago, that I got to meet them face to face and hear all the little details of their day. I came away feeling super excited, and it turned out to be everything I looked forward to and so much more.

Firstly the weather! Oh my gawd, it was hot, but you really can’t complain when you plan a gorgeous marquee wedding in the family’s garden, complete with outdoor sofas and chill out areas for guests to relax.

I was joined again by my assistant Debbie, and we headed first to Wotton House to capture some shots of Joe and his mates getting ready. I can’t lie, there were a few nerves, but these were swiftly sorted with the help of a medicinal tincture (of the alcoholic variety).

We then headed onto the village of South Holmwood where Debbie headed up to the St Mary Magdalene church to meet the guys, and I joined Annie, her family, and bridesmaids at the house. I don’t think you can ever have enough time before a wedding ceremony, it always seems to go at double the pace, and before we knew it the girls were headed off to the church, and it was time for Annie and Joe to get hitched!

After a lovely ceremony, the couple headed back to the house in a vintage Land Rover, a nod to Joe’s military past, freshly decorated by the guys. Meanwhile the the guests took a gentle stroll back along the country lane to the house, where canapés awaited them together with plenty of cold drinks!

We decided to hold off on group shots and couple portraits until it began to get cooler. There were some really beautiful settings and I absolutely adored the new Shepherd’s hut which provided an amazing backdrop as well as a cosy place for the couple to spend their wedding night. We even managed to get the family dogs involved, though I think I was more excited about that than they were!

I have to mention Annie’s Dad and her step mum Gayle, so many hours, days and weeks went into preparing the property for this day, and it looked absolutely amazing.

Oh and please, check out Annie’s pretty Temperley wedding gown which she teamed with sequin Jimmy Choos, and all the lovely flowers by Fluers of Horsham.  Annie and her bridesmaids all looked spectacular with hair by Helen Timofti and makeup by Gemma Aldous. So pretty.

This was quite a full on day for Debbie and I to shoot, but I’m so happy with the results (so far) and I hope Annie and Joe l love these previews.

Thank you Annie and Joe, for asking me to capture this amazing day. I hope you have many many years of happiness, and that these photographs will always remind you of this very special day. J x
